May nag-share sa akin sa email ng video na ito. My friend Fe has been living in the US for so long that she found these videos not funny at all. Alam niyang hindi ako nanood ng TV lalo na ang ganitong noontime shows kaya may kasamang warning ang email niya. Maghanda na raw ako ng Advil. Baka nga naman isumpa ko siya. Muntik na. 

Okey, click ko si youtube. Sa umpisa pa lang, mukhang na-transport na ako sa peryahan. Hindi ko kilala ang mga tao dito, si Tito, Vic at Joey lang. Hmmm…may eye candy, ‘yung ka-partner ni Joey sa contest. Puwede na, maganda. Ano kaya ito, artista o singer? Itinuloy ko ang panonood.

Footah, is this a joke? Totoo ba ang naririnig ko? Scripted ba ito? Sa kalagitnaan ng video, nilagok ko na ang Advil. Nagsimula nang pumintig ang ulo ko. Ito ba ang pinanonood ng mga Pinoy habang kumakain ng tanghalian?

Gusto kong mangumpisal pagkatapos kong mapanood ito. Nadiskubre kong masama akong tao. At some point, I laughed, too. No, I guffawed at this poor girl’s expense. Hindi ko napigil ang tumawa nang malakas as in LOLZ I know shouldn’t but I did.

It is one thing to laugh at Jimmy Santos and his carabao English, but it is NOT supposed to be funny nor even mildly amusing for any of these starlets to display their total lack of control over English, made worse by their apparent low IQ.

I don’t know her and I am not aware kung ginamit niya ang pagkaboba niya para sumikat. But it’s obvious she’s being exploited and humiliated in front of millions of viewers. Poor pretty, cute, sexy girl. She seems too clueless it even looks like she’s enjoying the limelight.

It is sad, it is pathetic, but mostly it tells the masa that it is OK to be stupid. Whether we like it or not, anyone, who appears on television becomes a role model to some. Neither the guests nor the hosts are good examples to the people. Because these shows are watched by the majority of  Filipinos, it becomess a reflection of the level of proficiency in English and/or education in this country.

Hindi ko alam kung magagalit ako o malulungkot sa klase ng basurang pinakakain sa kabataan natin ng mga writers and producers ng ganitong klaseng palabas. Pag istupido ka, puwede ka nang maging artista? At dahil ba sa hindi lang marunong mag-Inglis ang isang tao, dapat nang pagtawanan at pagkakitaan? It’s sick!!

Before we know it, Tito Sotto will be back in the Senate, where he did nothing when he was first elected, and he will then aspire to be president. Erap all over again, huh?

Pasensiya na kayo at naghanap ako ng damay. Baka sumakit ang ulo ninyo at isumpa ‘nyo rin ako pagkatapos ‘nyong panoorin ito. Pero gusto ko kayong tanungin, sa dami ng ganitong klaseng impluwensya, may pag-asa pa kaya tayong umasenso?

P.S. Patrice sent me the video clip kung saan sumikat si Alyssa Alano. Hindi ko na naman napigil, natawa ako ulit. Tsk tsk bad Ella. Actually, she’s really cute…and refreshing.

Trivia* Did you know that in Korea, bago maging artista, kailangan may college degree? Astig. They become role models nga naman. Good thinking, for these Koreans. Kaya mabilis silang magtagumpay sa buhay, eh.
