It’s like magic! Yup, Christmas always feels like some magic spell was cast upon us. Hindi natin maipaliwanag pero parang inipon lahat ng saya sa buong isang taon sabay ibinuhos lahat sa bandang end of the year. December 25 to be exact.

The main reason, of course is the birth of our Saviour. Whether Christian or not, admit it or not, the joyous feeling is there! It’s undeniable. Para bagang dumadaloy na sa ugat natin mula pa nang ipanganak tayo na dapat tayong maaliw kapag Pasko.

Well, for practical reasons, our non-Christian brothers are still happy during the holidays. Lakas ng business nila eh. Daming bumibili sa kanila. Kahit saan ako lumingon, may nagtitinda ng perlas hehe.

I really cannot explain it, pero Christmas is the only time when the Scrooges of this world ay mapapabunot mo ng pera sa mga bulsa nila. Para bagang nakulam o nagayuma sila LOL. ‘Yun bang para silang mga robot na bili lang nang bili ng regalo. Tapos magku-kwenta nang walang katapusan pagdating sa bahay hehe. Magic nga eh.

Hindi lang ‘yon, great nations at war call for truces during Christmastime. Para bagang ganito, “Teka lang, enemy of mine, bukas na lang kita papatayin. Pasko ngayon eh. Pass muna ako sa pag-murder sa ‘yo.” Magic na naman.

Eto pa isa na feeling ko tunay na magic. We like to give. We want our giftees to be happy with our gifts. We don’t really care what we get in return or if we get anything at all. And that is contrary to human nature. Alam ‘nyo naman ang tao, it’s always “ano ba ang akin diyan, oy?” Pero kapag Pasko, “sana magustuhan niya ang regalo ko”. Yeah….the magic dust at work.

We feel magnanimous, as if walang puwang ang galit at pagkamuhi sa ating puso. We forgive our enemies with a smile, a hug and a kiss. Para bagang kaya nating patawarin pati gubyerno ni Gloria. Teka lang, medyo sobra naman yata ‘yon but you get my drift, guys.

At higit sa lahat, the most magical thing that happens on Christmas is the emergence of the child in us. Lumalabas na muli ang bata. Ang batang itinatago natin ng isang taon sa dog-eat-dog life we lead everyday. The innocent child who laughs, who dreams and the child who plays.
